Getting Started
Is Sharp Tabs free to use?
Yes! Every feature in Sharp Tabs is free, and you don't need an account. Themes, custom CSS, backgrounds, workspaces, session backups, tab suspending and every customization option are included for everyone.
Why do AI features need an API key or subscription?
AI features (Prompt to Organize, AI auto-organize, AI group naming and AI tab cleanup) have to call an AI model, and every call costs money. You can add your own free Gemini API key in the settings, or, if you prefer not to manage a key, get the optional Sharp Tabs AI subscription. Everything else never needs either.
Features & Customization
How can I make the sidebar narrower?
This isn't possible at the moment due to a limitation in chrome it self. Please vote to allow narrower sidebars in this request. Vivaldi is another great option because it allows you to customize the sidebar width and even make the sidebar float over the page content.
How can I use a beautiful theme from tweakcn.com?
Custom CSS is free! Just apply the instructions in this readme file
What is Prompt to Organize?
Type one quick instruction, like "Create a new group for all YouTube links", and AI finds the matching tabs for you. You review the tabs before anything changes. Open it from the header menu in Sharp Tabs.
How can I use AI features for free?
You can bring your own Gemini API key! Get a free key from Google AI Studio and add it in the extension settings. All AI features (Prompt to Organize, auto-organize, group naming and tab cleanup) will then work without an account or subscription.
Account & Support
Do I need an account to use Sharp Tabs?
No. Sharp Tabs works fully without signing in. You only sign in if you choose the optional AI subscription instead of using your own Gemini API key.
